Bonus: The Ivor Novello Awards 2019

Last month, just a couple of days after interviewing Sting at his London home, we were lucky enough to be among the attendees of the 64th Ivor Novello Awards ceremony in London. (Quite a week for us!) The event honours the great and the good of British songwriting and was held at Grosvenor House on London’s Park Lane on 23rd May. If you’d like to hear more about the experience, check out our mini bonus podcast episode here:

We were there as guests of the Ivors Academy (formerly known as BASCA), the independent trade body for songwriters and composers in the UK. It was a genuine privilege to be present for such a celebration of the songwriter’s craft, which is ultimately the raison d’etre of our podcast too.

Veteran broadcaster Paul Gambaccini hosted, and this year’s winners included The 1975, Wiley, Deep Purple, Natasha Khan, Jonny Greenwood, Mariah Carey, Richard Ashcroft, and our former guest Dido (who received the award for ‘Outstanding Song Collection).
